Fogo Island
You take a short ferry to get out to Fogo Island. It must have been one of the first few cars off that ferry that I soon caught up to, a car rolled of the road, with a woman injured in the passenger seat, family members frantically trying to get the ambulance crew to help. I asked if there was anything I could do but they didn't need me. So I went ahead, shaken, and reminded that an adventure can turn sour quick. Fogo is a beautiful place where a busy fishing industry lives next do a modern artist residency program. One of the locals moved away long ago, made millions in "the internet" and returned on a mission to help to the island. The $850 / night hotel (2 night minimum) and ultra-modern cabins / art residencies dotted around the island make it a really interesting place to visit. I skipped the fancy hotel and found a nice little camp site by a lake. I got some great drone footage at several of the cabin sites. Annnnd I crashed my drone at one of them. Damn. Well, that's why I brought 2.
